High potential and gifted education

At Burringbar Public School, HPGE is part of who we are. Every day, we encourage our students to think deeply, create boldly, lead with confidence, and grow as learners and as people.

Guided by the NSW Department of Education’s High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) policy, we proudly recognise the diverse strengths, passions, and abilities of our students. We are committed to creating an inclusive, nurturing, and engaging environment where every child is supported to extend themselves and shine.

We take a whole-child approach to talent development, ensuring opportunities exist across four key domains:

Creative Domain
Students are encouraged to explore their imagination, express ideas in meaningful ways, and approach challenges with originality. Creativity is woven through classroom learning, performances, projects, and community events.

Intellectual Domain
We provide rich, challenging learning experiences that spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and promote high-level thinking across all key learning areas.

Physical Domain
At Burringbar, we value active learning and healthy living. Students develop skills, confidence, and teamwork through sport, outdoor activities, physical challenges, and movement-based opportunities.

Social-Emotional Domain
Student wellbeing sits at the heart of our school. We foster resilience, empathy, leadership, and strong relationships so that every child feels connected, supported, and empowered to thrive.
